Discovered in Europe in the 1700’s and widely used in all American wars, Occupational therapy addresses many areas of the body and mind. We like to say Occupational Therapy helps restore the things we take for granted, such as brushing our hair, putting on socks or using both sides of our body effectively after a stroke.

Occupational Therapy is based on goal-directed treatments that help individuals achieve independence in all facets of their lives.  They assist people in developing the “skills for the job of living” necessary for living and functioning independently.

Occupational therapy practitioners are highly skilled, licensed professionals.  Their education includes the study of human growth and development, with specific emphasis on the social, emotional and physical effects of illness and injury.
